Security forces apprehend three Ulfa (I) cadres in Tinsukia

Dimapur, May 15 (EMN): Security forces apprehended three ULFA (I) cadres identified as SS Cpl Bubul Moran alias Tiger Asom, SS L/Cpl Binondo Dahotia alias Swadesh Asom and SS Pvt Chandrakant Borhohain alias Tipong Asom along with sophisticated arms and ammunition on May 14 from Tarani Reserve Forest of Tinsukia district in Assam.
Based on reliable intelligence reports regarding cadres of ULFA (I), having crossed over the Indo Myanmar border for carrying out nefarious activities in Upper Assam, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and police, stated the PRO (defence) in a press release.

Extensive and deliberate efforts were made to convince the cadres to give up their arms and surrender.
The efforts of security forces finally made the cadres to surrender to the army and police without a fight.

One each of AK 56, AK-81, and HK rifles has been recovered from them. Apart from these weapons, two hand grenades, nine magazines and 425 rounds of ammunition have also been recovered.

In another update security forces apprehended one SS Cpl Podum Asom, an active ULFA (I) insurgent on May 13 at Disangmukh in Sivasagar district.

The cadre had also served as a personal security guard of senior ULFA (I) leader in Taga camp in Myanmar from 2013 to 2016. Information regarding the presence of the insurgent was received from the local
population.
