Dimapur, April 25 (EMN): The annual sports week of S.D. Jain Higher Secondary School kick started on Tuesday, April 25 at Dimapur District Sports Council (DDSC) ground.
The event commenced with the hoisting of flag by the chief guest Ajit kumar Ranjan IAS, Assistant Commissioner, Dimapur who declared the meet open. Ajit appreciated the school authority for organising the annual sports and games which gives them ample opportunity to hone their skills and understand themselves in a better way.
Assistant commissioner, Ajit Kumar Ranjan also expressed that sports and games holds greater significance among all other cultural and social activities in school. The chief guest also launched the school website developed by IT team NIIT during the occasion and added that the students must be given every possible opportunity to venture into the realm of knowledge and information by introducing new avenues of modern technology to add a greater significance in today’s learning and excel in studies and to compete with the best in the country. Despite the heat and dust, the school children did not lose their game spirits and sportsmanship by participating in all the games that was prepared for the day. The events also included shot put, sack race, Kho-kho, kabbadi, tug of war, long jump and high jump. The sports meet will culminate on April 27.
Ajay Sethi, secretary of school managing committee delivered a short speech and Om Prakash Sethi, president Jain Samaj honoured and felicitated the chief guest and other esteemed guest present at the function.
