Scouts and Guides honoured on 50th anniversary

Kohima, Dec. 15 (EMN): Established in 1967, Nagaland State Bharat Scouts and Guides (NSBSG) on December 15 celebrated its golden jubilee on the theme “One world, one goal” at the State Training Centre (STC), Pheza, in Nerhema village under Kohima district.

Governor PB Acharya, who attended the occasion as the chief guest, said scouting and guiding is a worldwide international movement dedicated to the training of boys and girls, an embodiment of discipline, health, and service to nation and service to the community.

While reminiscing the initiative taken by the pioneers of association, the Governor, who is also the chief patron of the movement, has encouraged the youngsters to continue contributing to create a better world. Mentioning that getting degree is not an end but a beginning, he called upon the BS&G not to confine themselves with the knowledge they have acquired but also impressed upon to contribute in every possible way for the overall development of the society.

In the award presentation, Kholie Dolf and Om Prakash were felicitated for their 25 year-long service while N Nasa Yanchen for his 15 years contributions towards the BS&G. L Alemchiba; Limatoshi Aier; SM Yanu, scoutmaster; Thejazeu Khruomo, and Ajay were conferred meritorious awards.

In the district awards for the year 2017, Khuyivu from Zunheboto district was awarded as the best district organising commission for scouts and Imtinaro from Kiphire district as the best district organising commission for guides.

Imlisunep from Kohima district was awarded the best scouter and Rita Devi from Dimapur district was awarded the best guider, while Phek district was adjudged as the best district and was awarded a cash of INR 25,000.

Altogether 556 Scout and Guides and other officials from various districts are attending the three-day event. A souvenir and a monolith were also unveiled during the programme.
