SASU denounces proxy teaching, terms as ‘sin to God and man’

Dimapur, Aug. 8 (EMN): Seyochung area students’ union (SASU) began its second phase educational tour to Seyochung, Old Mong, New Monger, Seyochung town and Yangzithong village in August on the theme ‘Practice of proxy teachers is a sin to God and man.’
During the tour, SASU held the meetings with village council members, GBs, teachers and the public for the reformation of quality education, health and infrastructural development under its jurisdiction.
A press release issued by SASU president, K Chumseli Anar, and the general secretary, Holise Sangtam, stated that the union would never compromise proxy teaching within its jurisdiction. While denouncing proxy teaching, SASU asked the government teachers, who are unable to perform their duties, to take voluntary retirement and pave way to thousand of aspiring unemployed youth who are waiting in the queue for job opportunity.
Informing that it would conduct surprise checking in all schools regularly within its jurisdiction, the union has warned to take stern action against erring teachers.
The union also pointed out that Government High School in Seochung village has been functioning without assistant headmaster, language teacher, office assistant (1 UDA), LDA cum computer assistant, peon, and chowkidar.
SASU also asked the concerned department to urgently renovate the walls which have developed cracks at Government Middle School in Old Mong and GPS Yangzithong village.
The union pointed out that Seyochung area under aspirational district continues to remain poor in all sectors especially health, education and agriculture due to its remote location. In addition, it stated that majority of people are illiterate and living below poverty line.
SASU has earnestly requested the concerned authority under aspirational district to utilise the funds for the welfare of the poor people.
SASU further acknowledged the village councils, GBs, leaders and public for their unconditional support towards the union.
