Kohima, July 4 (EMN): The Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO) has sought the attention of the Tenyimi People’s Organization (TPO) to what it called ‘highly offensive move of the Mao Council’ for meeting the Manipur chief minister with ‘other Mao Civil Society organizations’ on June 19 last demanding for taking up of certain projects in the Dzukou valley.
In a letter to the TPO which was made available to the media, the SAPO stated that the ongoing Kezoltsa-Dzukou issue was handed over to the TPO ‘with trust and confidence’ on July 4, 2015 following which a Board of Arbitrators (BOA) was constituted in January 2016 for a term of 6 months.
“As entrusted, the BOA had several round of talks/discussion making slow but steady progress. The term of BOA was extended twice in order to give sufficient time to deliberate and bring about an amicable settlement,” the SAPO reminded the TPO.
“Despite all possible efforts by stakeholders to address the matter peacefully and bring it to its logical conclusion, we are shocked and dismayed by the betrayal of trust and total disregard of the whole issue shown by the Mao Council who along with the other Mao Civil Society organizations met the Chief Minister of Manipur on 19th June 2017 demanding for taking up certain projects in the Dzukou Valley which traditionally and undisputedly belongs to SAPO since time immemorial,” the letter stated.
In the light of the above, SAPO sought the attention of the TPO on ‘the highly offensive move of the Mao Council’ who is also a constituent member of the ongoing talks, and to initiate immediate necessary action as per the terms and conditions “before the matter goes out of hand”.
