Dimapur, June 16 (EMN): The 47th freshers meet of Sao Chang College, Tuensang, was held on June 4 on the theme ‘Be the beacon’ with P Shingnya, federal assembly speaker of Khiamniungan Students’ Union, as the guest speaker.

Speaking on the occasion, Shingnya encouraged the students to be warrior in education in this competitive society. Pointing out that the present Naga society is driven by ‘ego’ and ‘isms,’ he urged the students to do away with attitude for a healthier and progressive society.

“The presence of isms in our mind, thoughts and practices will destroy everything in our struggle for advancement,” he cautioned and urged the students to not only focus on academic syllabus but also learn various life skills values to live independently. He also called upon the students to modernise their way of life without compromising the rich and unique culture and traditions.

He further stated that students need to identify their potentials and talents to pursuit future career.

Khoniyimjong and Lukhtsangla K Yimchunger were declared as Mr & Miss Freshers. LongtichangTzudir, college’s vice principal, delivered a short speech, while Changlemba spoke on behalf of the freshers. Song was presented by Thsanso and friends while Rebecca presented a solo. The welcome address was delivered by Buming Nokhio Lam, executive member of SCCSU, and the vote of thanks was pronounced by Khaikho P, general secretary SCCSU.
