Fifteen minutes before the declaration of the elections in Nagaland by the Election Commission, TR Zeliang inaugurated the new ADC headquarter. In his address, the politician remarked that the Lotha community ‘in particular’ and the locality were the ‘luckiest among the rest of the district to have development.’ Talking about the ‘potential’ of the area, Zeliang called the leaders, landowners, and the society in general to ‘think positive by accepting development and progress.’ ‘If public and government walk together and think together, dream will become reality,’ he said. He said that the Lotha regions have a ‘wider scope’ for tourism which can promote the state and the people can benefit. The large fertile lands and natural mineral deposits can help the people to become self-reliant and boost the state’s economy. Also, the chief minister called Sanis, Baghty and Bhandari some of the hubs for economic growth. He appealed to the people to unite in bringing in development. Development requires land and the people need to ‘part with their land for the interest of the public and progress for the society,’ the politician declared. From ‘Land of Plenty’ to “Land of Resourceful” The chief minister remarked further that the Lotha region, a ‘land of plenty,’ has to be renamed ‘land of resourceful’ by opening its window to development and opportunity and by its making use of unharnessed resources in the region. N Thomas Lotha, advisor for Higher & Technical Education, addressed the gathering. He appreciated the new establishment and congratulated the chief minister for his ‘interest’ to develop the region.
