Sangita Thiyam is Miss Orange Queen 2017

Our Correspondent Imphal, Dec. 14 (EMN): Sangita Thiyam was crowned the coveted Orange Queen 2017 title during a night long beauty contest held as part of the 14th edition of the State Level Orange festival at Tamenglong district headquarters, 150 km west of Imphal, reports reaching here said. Lumgailiu Panmei of Tamenglong and Keipila Lovety Maram of Tumuyon Khullen in Senapati district were adjudged as the first and second runners-up respectively. The beauty contest which was scheduled to be held on the concluding day of the five day festival on Dec. 10, was rescheduled on Dec. 13 Wed. night because of the incessant rain. Miss Orange Queen 2017 who is the daughter of Late Ibotombi Singh of Irom Meijarao in Manipur’s Imphal west district went home richer with a cash prize of Rs 1.5 lakh while Lumgailiu daughter of Pastor Guiphanang Panmei of Tamenglong and Keipila daughter of TS Talong bagged Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. The sub-titles holders were also awarded Rs 15,000 each. Apart from Orange queen, eight subtitles winners were Lumgailiu Panmei (Beautiful eyes), Keipila (Beautiful skin), Achong Haokip (Beautiful hair), Sangita Thiyam (Best catwalks),Christina Thiumai (Face of Tamenglong), Agenes Zeliangrong (Miss beautiful smile) and Ketuni Phre-e Qwiree (Miss photogenic) were also given a cash prize of Rs 15,000 each. Lumgailiu Panmei’s designer Blendina was adjudged the best designer and best photographer award was also given to press reporter Daniel Kamei of Tamenglong. In all 23 orange queen contestants including those from New Delhi, Nagaland, Meghalaya and other districts of Manipur took part in the beauty contest. Colonel Chinmaya Verma of 23 Assam Rifles, former Miss North east Soma Laisrham, Tamenglong DC Armstrong Pame, Dr Manish of 3 Assam Rifles were special guests of the beauty pageant wherein a two minute silent and tribute was also paid to Late Guru Jiangam.
