SAMETI conducts training for ATMA functionaries

State Agriculture Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) has organised a three-day training programme on ‘Climate resilient agriculture: Approaches and practices’ for ATMA functionaries from June 29 to July 1.
SAMETI Director, Nguzonyi Wetsah, has termed the training programme as need base as climate change is affecting people all over the world particularly the farming community. Describing the ATMA functionaries as agent of change, he encouraged all the participants to take the training seriously and implement them in letter and spirit so as to bring about desirable sustainable changes in their respective districts.Detailed participatory lectures with respect to environment and crop perspectives including ‘Issues relating to change and measures to be adopted; combating climate change: its impact on horticultural crop production’ were imparted by Dr. KK Jha and Dr. CS Maiti.
Dr. T Gohain, Assistant professor of Department of Horticulture, SASRD, spoke on climate change associated with temperature stress and impact on crop productivity, while J Akato Chishi, senior Technical Assistant, delivered lecture on impact of climate change on crop-pest scenario.
At the valedictory function, feedback on behalf of the trainees was delivered by Kunoto Y Chishi, DPD ATMA Tuensang, and Chubanaro, BTM ATMA Longleng.
SAMETI Director, in his valedictory remark, encouraged the trainees to uphold the values of hard work, sincerity and dedication while carrying out their respective duties so as to bring about desirable changes in the lives of the farming community. He reminded all participants to submit success stories of their respective districts for compilation. The training concluded with distribution of certificates to the participants by the Director.
