Mokokchung, Sep. 30 (EMN): Sakutemjen Memorial Club Chungtiayimsen, lifted the coveted 12th Imchaba Master Memorial volleyball trophy 2017 after beating Tongden Club Chungtia ‘A’ in the final held at Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, Mokokchung on Friday.
Sakutemjen Memorial Club Chungtiayimsen defeated its opponent Tongden Club Chungtia ‘A’ in a clean straight sets 25-20; 25-16; 25-17. Well synced and fury attack from Chungtiayimsen team made the opponent loss control for their formation and ultimately gave away the hope lift the coveted title.
The champion walked away with a cash prize of Rs. 70000/- plus the running trophy and certificates while the runner-up received a cash amount of Rs. 50000/- and certificates.
Meanwhile, the third place was clinched by Young Stallone Club Akuluto. They beat Sporting Club Mangkolemba by 25-23; 25-12. The third place winner received a cash prize of Rs. 20000/- and certificates and fourth place were awarded a cash prize of Rs 15000- and certificates.
Imlichuba from Sakutemjen Memorial Club Chungtiayimsen won the Best Spiker award while Imsuwar from Tongden Club ‘A’ won the Best Setter award, both winning cash prize of Rs. 3000/- each along with certificates. The Man of the Tournament award went to Kito Zhumomi, Young Stallone Club Akuluto which carried a cash prize of Rs.4000/- along with certificate.
The closing function was graced by I Meyionen, Director & DIG Vigilance & Anti-Corruption as the chief guest. In his address, Meyionen lamented due to politics and corruption in sport India lacks behind other in international sports arena.
Nevertheless, he also advised the players to work hard and maintain discipline and abstained themselves from bad influences. He also called upon the Mokokchung District Volleyball Association (MDVA) to exhibit integrity for the development of sport in the District. The vote of thanks was tendered by Lakhi Lkr, president MDVA.
