SABS marks 50 years advent in Northeast

The Sisters of the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament (SABS) celebrated 50th years of its advent in the Northeast region on August 30 at St. Paul Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, with Archbishop of Imphal Rev. Dominic Lumon, who presiding over the holy mass as the main celebrant. He has acknowledged the services of SABS in the growth of churches in Northeast region and also conveyed jubilee celebration to be an intense moment of joy and thanksgiving. Commemorating the golden jubilee celebration of the SABS at St. Paul Higher Secondary School Dimapur, the Bishop of Kohima Rev. James Thoppil expressed admiration to the SABS for their unconditional sacrifices rendered 50 years back by setting out to an unknown shore unmindful of their fate. He applauded that after 50 years, the church in Northeast region had witnessed the fruit of their sacrifices.
Referring to the recent release of religion wise population census in India by the Government of India, Bishop of Kohima Rev. James Thoppil indicated that Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya and Manipur have shown rise in Christian population.
Indicating the growth of Christianity in those three states, Rev. James Thoppil remarked that no other religion community had shown such increase. Articulating on the overwhelming growth, he said such increase had taken place because of the services rendered to humanity by making a difference in the society.
Pointing out the practice of Christian institution in the West, Rev. James Thoppil opined that fidelity and commitment have been replaced by ‘glorification of individual freedom’ which has given rise to divorce in families. Taking the occasion, the Bishop called on the congregation to be a consecrated person and a model.
The 50 years of the arrival of SABS in the Northeast was honored with well wishers, school students, nuns from various congregation and priests who participated in the holy Eucharistic mass which was followed by cultural programmes.
The service and sacrifices rendered by the SABS in Northeast particularly in Nagaland could now be witnessed in the rise of quality education among the students. Besides, they extended their noble job to charity towards the deprived section of the society.
