Rüzhükhrie Govt HSS to face G Rio in final

Kohima, July 13 (EMN): Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School defeated Mount Sinai Higher Secondary School 1-0 in the 2nd semifinal match and set up a final clash with G Rio School at the ongoing 1st Kohima District Inter-School Football Tournament at Kohima local ground on Thursday.
Despite missing two penalties, Rüzhükhrie sealed a narrow victory over Mt. Sinai HSS during the thrilling encounter when Vilakholie headed the much need goal in the 99th minute.

Rüzhükhrie side were a better team right from the beginning but failed to finish the game as they needed extra time to snatch the victory. They should have taken the lead when a handball was penalised inside the area but Keviyabei-u failed to convert the spot-kick in the 34th minute.
Despite numerous attacks, Mt.Sinai defender prevented Rüzhükhrie Govt HSS from scoring any goal in the stipulated time where both teams locked on to a goalless draw at the end of the match.
As the match proceeded to extra time of 15 minutes, Mt Sinai was breached when Rüzhükhrie’s striker Vilakholie headed the only goal in 99th minute to bring much joy to the celebration of the supporters.
Rüzhükhrie Govt HSS could have doubled the lead in the extra time when they scored another goal in the extra time but was called offside. Custodian Mathew Thapa also made a heroic save after Rüzhükhrie defender Ndalungswang’s penalty shot was parried away in the 102 minute. The match ended 1-0 at the end of the final whistle.
During the match, Shoungoalou Pohena and Vechie Ciirha, of Mt.Sinai HSS were cautioned while the lone yellow card for Rüzhükhrie Govt HSS was cautioned to Vilakholie.
Earlier, Er. Kevizatuo Miachieo, State Information Commissioner, Nagaland & President, Royal Club Kohima graced the 2nd Semi-Final match as the match patron.

KPC, RCK exhibition match today

Royal Club Kohima (RCK), the organisers of the ongoing Kohima District Inter-School Football Tournament, will be playing a football exhibition match with Kohima Press Club (KPC) today at Kohima local ground at 2 pm.
In this regard, all the KPC members have been requested to reach the venue at 1.30 pm on the match day. Also, all the well wishers of the two clubs are invited to come and witness the game.
