Dimapur, June 19 (EMN): Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA), in collaboration with Naga Women Welfare Organisation of Diphupar ‘B’ Village, organised a programme with rural women on various welfare schemes/ rights and privileges at Diphupar ‘B’ Village council hall on June 18.
Khumchuba, DDLSA panel lawyer, spoke about various welfare schemes for women provided by the government and encouraged the gathering to avail the opportunity for their benefit.
Sentimenla, DDLSA panel lawyer, spoke about the basic legal rights with special reference to women. She also emphasised that a female cannot be arrested after sunset and before sunrise. Another panel lawyer Zuchumbeni Ngullie spoke on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005. She spoke on domestic violence such as physical violence, sexual violence, emotional violence and economic violence and its redressal.
Y Longkumer, principal district and session judge, Dimapur, and DDLSA chairperson, summed up the programme. She also encouraged the womenfolk to stand up and fight for their rights and to avail the services of the legal services authority which was constituted for the downtrodden and marginalised section of the society.
Earlier, the programme was led by Elito Zhimomi, DDLSA panel lawyer, followed with a welcome address said by the president of Naga Women Welfare Organisation Diphupar ‘B’ Village.
