Kohima, July 14 (EMN): Royal Club Kohima (RCK) defeated Kohima Press Club (KPC) 3-1 in an exhibition match played at Kohima local ground on Friday.
During the match, Royal Club Kohima took an early lead through Akhrie in the first half, KPC on the other side failed to convert the opportunities that came their way. Despite the numerous attempts, they failed to find the back of the net.

In the second half, KPC looking for an equaliser ended their hope in the second half when Zhovezo was penalised with a red card after the ball hit his hand as he tried to take a header from teammate Neibu’s long corner shot.
Playing against 10 men, Royal Club Kohima scored two more goals, with Akhrie netting his second goal and Sanyii adding the 3rd goal. KPC managed to score a consolation goal through Neibu.
Meanwhile, G Rio School and Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School will be clashing in the finals of the ongoing 1st Kohima District Inter-School Football Tournament on Saturday.
The winner of the tournament will receive a cash prize of Rs.70, 000/- and the runner-up team will pocket Rs.50, 000/-. The semi-finalists i.e. Mt Sinai HSS and Ministers’ Hill Baptist HSS will be receiving a cash prize of Rs 20,000 each/-.
Altogether a total of 24 schools from Kohima district are participating in the first edition.
The organisers also informed that certificates will be awarded to all the participating teams at the Grand Finale on July 15, during the prize distribution ceremony. Therefore, all the team manager and coach along with the players are requested to take note of this and attend the final match.
