Rio’s resignation creates ripples in NPF

Dimapur, Jan. 18 (EMN): The resignation of lone Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio from the Naga People’s Front (NPF) has created ripples within the party leading to resignation of heavy weights who have pledged allegiance to his leadership. The resignation of Rio from NPF party has come as a boost to the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP).
Barely 24 hours after the announcement of Rio’s resignation from the NPF on January 17, the party vice president and former parliamentary secretary from Tseminyu assembly constituency under Kohima district R Khing had resigned from the party and joined NDPP.
A press note from the NDPP stated that Khing had resigned from both the primary and active membership of the NPF and joined the NDPP at the party’s office in Chumoukedima.
In a similar development, the present general secretary of Angami Sports Association Zale Neikha also resigned from the both the primary and active membership of the NPF party and joined NDPP.
A press note from the media and communication committee of the party today stated that Neikha was the president of Tragopan Club Viswema and also served both as president and also the general secretary of Southern Angami Sports Association (SASA).
