Dimapur, Dec. 11 (EMN): Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Tuesday congratulated the advisor to Tourism, Art and Culture, Khehovi Yepthomi “on the successful conduct” of the 19th edition of the Hornbill Festival.

“This year’s event has been an overwhelming success with a record number of visitors and tourists from different parts of the world. The most welcome aspect was the positive participation of the local tourists and the local population who have come out in large numbers to participate and support the dozens of events that took place in the different districts.

“Beginning from the inaugural programme to the closing function, the overall conduct and organisation of the festival has significantly improved and the events were indeed very impressive,” read a statement from Rio, issued through the DIPR.

According to the chief minister, “We must continue to make efforts to constantly improve upon our shortcomings and learn from experiences so that together with the people of Nagaland—who are the real stakeholders of the festival—we make this event grow and improve to become a major international festival on a global scale.

“Kindly convey the appreciation of the state government to your entire team including all the departments, tribal hohos (sic), event management groups, NG0s, etc., who have worked together in a well-coordinated manner to make the Hornbill Festival a grand success,” the statement read.

Rio also expressed appreciation from, and gratitude of, the state government to the people of Nagaland, especially the youth, “for the tremendous support and the positive energy that was so evident during the 10 days festival.”
