Read on to learn more about the talented Tk Lemtur from Mokokchung!Eastern Mirror: A little intro about yourself ….
Tk Lemtur: I am just a regular twenty two year old agriculture scholar, striving as a singer-songwriter who is really passionate about music and innately drawn towards all art forms. Basically running around trying to make it big in this world, juggling academics and social life, while giving light to my passion for writing music and story telling through it. ‘Food’ is the other companion besides my music taking this roller coaster ride of a journey along me.

Eastern Mirror: Your inspirations???
Tk Lemtur: Well, firstly, my inspiration in life is my Mum and Dad who is always cheerful and supportive not just of my life but also of my music. Secondly, I write my music from my daily life experiences and so every length of it holds true meaning and soul.
Lastly, I am not genre specific when it comes to music so my musical inspirations includes James Morrison, James Brown,Jessie J, Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Maroon Five, Ed Sheeran and many more.

Eastern Mirror: Top 5 favorite songs of all time?
Tk Lemtur: Vienna- Billy Joel , If you don’t wanna love me- James Morrison, Paper hearts-Tori Kelly, Valerie- Amy Winehouse, That girl- Justin timberlake

Eastern Mirror: How was your journey as a ‘musician’ like over the years?
Tk Lemtur: Speaking of my musical journey, I can’t exactly pin point or recall specifically how it all started but I believe it came about after I did my first piano recital in my third standard. Then I joined a choir under ‘The Choir Maestro’- Shri Lipokmar Tzudir, from whom I believe I was able to develop my musical instincts, and after which I just started writing my own music and have been performing ever since. I also did a couple of covers on youtube and thanks to Inihut, I recently released my debut single ‘My Oh My’ which is about a hapless chap irrevocably in love that he finds himself making heartfelt promises, courteously waiting for his love to be requited [Available exclusively in www.indihut.com/tk-lemtur/ free for downloads] making it possible to share my music to the world. Throughout this journey I pitched for staying true to my music and will also do so in the days to come.

Eastern Mirror: How do you manage to find time for ‘music’ when you are into a stream that requires and hard work?
Tk Lemtur: Well, frankly speaking, it is very hard trying to manage both my academics and music, with the few cut out holidays( mostly two weeks tops), always running after deadlines, trying to make it through a semester in one piece, but Music always finds its way along with the submissions and presentations and field works. At times it seems over scheduled but my chaps and I actually did the recording of my debut single ‘My Oh My’ in the two days that I was there in Dimapur and pretty much wrapped up and left for my university the very night. Still, I never received no memo that read it would be easy (wink).

Eastern Mirror: Agriculture and Music?? Share few of your common interests that connects your profession and your hobby.
Tk Lemtur: I can’t really say that the two is logically connected, but one thing I can confirm is that one is quite the complementary of the other. As it is quite evident that my academics keep me on my toes, music actually makes it easier. That said, I get to blow off some steam thanks to my music. I did learn about perseverance and being true to myself be it in life or music.

Eastern Mirror: Did you undergo any professional vocal or musical training?
Tk Lemtur: I actually had piano lessons since my second standard, classically trained though I never really appeared for any grade exams but had to stop once I entered high school. After which I joined a choir as mentioned earlier, then started singing and writing my own music. That was pretty much it.

Eastern Mirror: Your favourite quote?
Tk Lemtur: ‘Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there’ – Will Rogers
