Rhythm of Love: In conversation with Radio City

Influenced by the late 70s and early 90s rock music,
Radio City is a newly formed band from Kohima consisting of Along Jamir on the lead vocals, Zajamo Kithan on the guitars, Razo Tenenu on the bass and Aditya Rana on the drums.
Winning the “Best Original” title at Sungkotenem Beat Contest “Clash of the Bands 2016” held at Mopungchuket village has been the band’s trademark along with various other participations in numerous rock contests.
The song “Find A Way” that talks about the struggles of life is their first original recorded at Infinite Records, Kohima.
Their songs can be downloaded at indihut.

EASTERN MIRROR: A little introduction to the band
Radio City: It’s a progressive rock band formed in 2016 lined up with Along Jamir as frontman, Zajamo Kithan with the lead guitar, Razo Tenenu on bass guitar ,and one very special member our new drummer Tovi Achumi.

EASTERN MIRROR: What is your song “Find a way” all about?
Radio City: Well, this song is our debut single released just recently in indihut. The song “Find a way” is a very special song, it talks about the struggles we face in our life. Life is flooded with struggles and the song is all about the tyranny of life and our desires to get out of it.

EASTERN MIRROR: Which famous musicians have you learned from?
Radio City: Well, we can’t exactly pinpoint particular artist from which we derived our type of music but some of the popular artists which influence and inspired us in a great ways are Dream theater, Whitesnake, Metallica, Extreme, Mr Big etc.

Radio City: Though it has not been that long time since the formation of band, we had so many fantastic memories performing in different stages. However, recently concluded NSACS tour in four districts were truly enthralling, it was an awareness campaign in HIV/AIDS, hence it is important for us that we are contributing to the society for the welfare of people through our music.

EASTERN MIRROR: What was winning the “Best Original” title at Sungkotenem Beat contest “Clash of the band 2016” like?
Radio City: We are really excited about this since it is our first time winning a major rock beat contest that too in the same year the band formed. It was a great experience and is a priceless inspiration that gives us confidence to move ahead further into the world of rock n roll.

EASTERN MIRROR: Top five favourite bands in your playlist?
Radio City: All the band members have various favourite music and it is difficult to point out particular band ,But we as a band mostly play songs from the bands like Dream Theater, Mr Big, Whitesnake, Metallica, Extreme, etc

EASTERN MIRROR: How often and for how long do you practice?
Radio City: It depends on the schedule, on a busy day we practice whole day and on a typical days, we practice for around 4-5 hours.IMG_20161211_145325

EASTERN MIRROR: How do you balance your music with other obligations?
Radio City: Right now, all of us are still in college and we give importance to our education since education is the driving force in every career irrespective of the profession. But we give most important priority to the music apart from study.
