Rhythm of Love: In conversation with Khochamo Kikon

Dimapur based Khochamo Kikon is an upcoming singer and songwriter, his love for music which began at a very young age propelled him to take part in the Naga Hindi Voice, Season 2 and he finished the competition as one of the finalists.
His debut single “I’m right here” composed by Sui Zeliang and Khochamo Kikon and music arrangement by Sosang Longkumer is out on Indihut foar download.
In today’s Rhythm of Love, the young and talented musician talks us through his musical journey.

upppEASTERN MIRROR: Tell us about your early phase into the music industry.
Khochamo Kikon: I started singing at a very young age performing in schools and church events. My parents have been supportive with my profession and they have been the sources of inspiration, which has been the backbone of my musical journey.

EASTERN MIRROR: What are your fondest musical memories?
Khochamo Kikon: My fondest musical memory was at an event when the crowd started singing along with me requesting for songs and asking me to dance along with them. That was one moment I will cherish as it gave me absolute satisfaction as an entertainer winning hearts.

EASTERN MIRROR: Tell us about the song writing process that you go through. Where do you draw inspiration for your songs?
Khochamo Kikon: People around me inspire my song writing a lot. I draw inspiration from normal activities and the amazing little things that people do for their loved ones.

EASTERN MIRROR: Talk us through your debut song “I’m right here”
Khochamo Kikon: “I’m right here” is a song inspired by my friends which also conveys my dedication towards my loved ones in every situation-in good and bad times.

EASTERN MIRROR: What challenges have you faced in the music industry of Nagaland so far?
Khochamo Kikon: Fortunately I have not faced any challenges yet especially after being a part of Naga Hindi Voice Season 2, I have had opportunities.

EASTERN MIRROR: If you could collaborate with any musician of the state who would that be and why?
Khochamo Kikon: That would definitely be Tali Angh. His song “This fire” inspires me a lot and has also made me who I am today. He has one of the most powerful voices and is always inspiring.
