Khekiho Yeptho fondly known as Kheky, found his love and passion for music when he committed his life for the Lord and from that moment onwards, the gospel artist channeled his love for God through his music.
“Time has its own way to teach us the meaning of life, and life teaches us the importance of time which always makes me to realize the love of God every now and then” says Kheky.
In today’s Rhythm of Love Kheky talks us through debut album ‘I Believe’, his love for music, and how he uses this special gift.

EASTERN MIRROR: To start with, for those who may be new to you and your music, tell us about yourself as an artist?
KHEKIHO YEPTHO: As an artist I mostly prefer contemporary music such as soulful, soft rock and especially acoustic music.

EASTERN MIRROR: Tell us about the moment when you decided that music was something that you wanted to do with your life. What prompted you to become a Gospel singer?
KHEKIHO YEPTHO: Oh! When I think back about the moment when I decided that music was something that I wanted to do, it still lingers fresh in my mind and heart. Well! Here’s a bit of throwback about how I began my journey with music.
My passion and love for music began to take form when I committed my life to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and from then on every moment in my life I was able to channel the love of God through music. My career in music began from a throw away guitar which I found at nearby garage way back in the year 2007, I started strumming the old rugged guitar in my own way and slowly and steadily without any professional training I began to sing gospel songs mostly praise and worship songs which later helped me become a praise and worship leader in my church and the more I sang, the more the passion of music began to develop within me which also led me to come closer to God and all this prompted me to become a gospel singer.

EASTERN MIRROR: Talk us through your debut album ‘I Believe’.
KHEKIHO YEPTHO: In my album “I Believe” it has various genres of music such as Gospel, Love and Sümi. Songs which talk about the love of God and how anything can be achieved when we have faith in God. The motive behind my debut album “I Believe” is to share what God has done in my life and hence to encourage, support, inspire all my fellow believers and listeners that anything is possible when we believe in God and that’s what I Believe.

EASTERN MIRROR: Being a praise and worship leader at your church, is all the music you make gospel or do you do other types of music as well?
KHEKIHO YEPTHO: Well! Like I have said in my debut album it has various genres of music which of course talks about the love of God but nonetheless it also shows the variety of music that I am interested in, especially the types of music that speak to the soul and for the betterment of the society.

EASTERN MIRROR: As a Gospel artist, what are some of the challenges that you face from being in various church settings?
KHEKIHO YEPTHO: In various church settings as a gospel artist the challenges that I see are lack of publicity, and age gap differences are the two challenges.

EASTERN MIRROR: What do you thing is the biggest misconception about gospel artists
KHEKIHO YEPTHO: Many have the misconception that being a gospel artist, as we are testifying HIS name through music we should be perfect and everything should be stellar clear starting from our image to our daily conduct. But let me tell you that no matter how much I try to be perfect like our living God I cannot be perfect but with my imperfectness I will not cease to praise him with who I am and with what I have.

EASTERN MIRROR: What’s next for you?
KHEKIHO YEPTHO: I want to visit churches to encourage music lovers and young people through my music and continue to be involved in my church as a member of praise and worship team and in the coming years if God wills I am planning to release a Sümi album.
