Joseph Keikung from Longleng district is a lawyer by profession who found his passion for music at a very young age and this passion made him take every opportunity that was made available to him to sing.
Though he is in a profession that does not permit him to concentrate on his passion for music, Keikung is deeply rooted with music and has released his first debut single and music video “Lonely Road” which was directed by local musician Moba Inggang and audio recorded at Music Bakery, Dimapur, Nagaland.
In today’s Rhythm of Love, the upcoming singer talks us through his musical journey and his profession.

Joseph Keikung: At the very first place, I belong to Phom Community coming from a very simple family. My profession is a lawyer but music has always been my passion. I have also taken the opportunity for all the special numbers offered to me or to partake in the Church choir since my high school days.

EASTERN MIRROR: Talk us through your debut single and music video “Lonely Road”. What was the inspiration for your debut single?
Joseph Keikung: I am pretty sure you must be very well versed of my title and lyrics….but in actual sense the song is not just about being heart broken or something like lost love for myself. But I also actually deliberate about the hardships that some of my friends went through too.

EASTERN MIRROR: You are a lawyer by profession and you ventured into music only recently even though you had the passion for music since your early age. What kept you away from taking your music to the people?
Joseph Keikung: Just as I have mentioned before, I am a lawyer by profession. Although I have a very great passion for music, my greater priority was my studies and my career.

EASTERN MIRROR: How do you balance your passion for music with your obligation as a lawyer?3 5
Joseph Keikung: In short most of my time is a work time and most of my leisure time is a music time.

EASTERN MIRROR: With no formal training in music, what challenges have you faced in the music industry of Nagaland so far?
Joseph Keikung: Initially I was apprehensive but I found that the music industry in the state is very approachable and supportive.

EASTERN MIRROR: What’s next for you?
Joseph Keikung: I am looking forward for more of my music in the days to come. I hope that my music is presentable and loved by all the music lovers. THANK YOU.
