With the aim to glorify the Lord, the Immanuel Music Academy led by Aron T. Asumi formed a music choir comprising of various leaders and musicians in and around Zunheboto town.

The choir on June 16 released its debut ‘Khristo No Alhokupuju Lo Ka Acheni” (Christ Reigns Forever) which was written and composed in commemoration of the 75 (Platinum) Jubilee year of 2017 of Zunheboto town and the Baptist Church of Zunheboto.

IMA Choir comprising of 21 members is presently working on its second song which will be released very soon.

Eastern Mirror: Who is Immanuel Music Academy Choir? Few lines about the choir for those who haven’t heard of it.

IMA: A group of singers, song leaders and musicians in and around Zunheboto town came together under the initiative of Aron T. Asumi and formed a music group called Immanuel Music Academy (IMA) Choir.

 

Eastern Mirror: When was IMA established? Achievements of the Academy apart from the formation of IMA Choir.

IMA: IMA was established in the year 2010. IMA is the department of music education of Immanuel Higher Secondary School, Zunheboto. IMA has been imparting music education to young musicians, song leaders and church leaders. IMA has also produced Music topper in HSLCE. IMA follows graded curriculum of Trinity College London (TCL) and also the Examination Centre of TCL.

 

Eastern Mirror: Idea behind forming the choir and what do you wish to convey through your songs?

IMA: The only idea and motive behind forming IMA choir are for the edification of the name of God through music. We also wanted to encourage young people to take up music as a ministry and also as a career.

 

Eastern Mirror: What is your debut “Khristo No Alhokupuju Lo Ka Acheni (Christ Reigns Forever)’ all about?

IMA: The IMA debut “Khristo No Alhokupuju Lo Ka Acheni” (Christ Reigns Forever) was written and composed in commemoration of the 75 (Platinum) Jubilee year of 2017 of Zunheboto town and the Baptist Church of Zunheboto. The song conveys that “It’s a time to heal the wounds of divisions; a time of joy; reconciliation and to open our hearts to each other and share the blessings of God with each other. Let’s get closer to God and never farther away from God as we are heading towards heaven where Christ reigns forever.”

 

Eastern Mirror: Who composes for the choir?

IMA: IMA choir songs are mostly composed by Aron T. Asumi and written by Dr. Vihuto T. Asumi.

 

Eastern Mirror: With the Academy being located at Zunheboto, does the IMA have any plans in opening its branch in Kohima and Dimapur?

IMA: Fortunately Nagas are very advanced now in all genres of Music. Kohima and Dimapur are flourishing very well in music and have become the music hubs. IMA does not have any plan to open its branch in Kohima or Dimapur as of now. IMA intend to upgrade the Academy to a degree level in the near future.

 

Eastern Mirror: Vision of IMA choir?

IMA: IMA choir is working on to bring out more music videos which will be released through YouTube. IMA choir also endeavours to go out on a music ministry tour from time to time.
