Eastern Mirror: How would you like to introduce yourself as one of the upcoming artiste of Nagaland?
BUHIU B.LAM: Hello I’m Buhiu B.Lam from Khiamniungan tribe. I’m doing my masters in English Literature at Patkai Christian College and also a member of Voice Of Nagaland Choir. Just recently I released my debut single called “A Warrior” at Indihut.

Eastern Mirror: What is your debut single “A worrier” all about?
BUHIU B.LAM: “A Warrior” came up from my personal experience. I wrote this song during a recovery state from a sickness which bedridden me for more than a month. The song projects the miracles of God and Jesus Christ presented in the Bible. It also talks about the rays of hope which still glows inspite of our mistakes and guilts assuring God’s unfailing Grace.

Eastern Mirror: Journey of “As One” at one of the most prestigious talent show of he country “India’a got talent (season 7).
BUHIU B.LAM: The experience I had in the “India’s Got Talent” stage was just beyond my expectations. I felt so surreal taking up the stage with my team mates and face the world reputed personalities. Losing or winning didn’t matter but the fact of being at such stage was probably my highest flight to my dreams.

Eastern Mirror: Multitasking of Undergoing a master’s degree and pursuing a musical career. Are you able to satisfy these two completely different professional paths?
BUHIU B.LAM: Well this is a serious issue that I often encounter. Study is my priority and I take music seriously. At times these two clashes and I had to let go some bigger opportunities which is a bitter truth. The struggle to balance these professions is indeed a challenge for me.

Eastern Mirror: Packed with gifted talents like singing, composing and writing poems (apart from educational background), where do you wish to see yourself ten years from now?
BUHIU B.LAM: I’m always humbled and thankful to God for all these beautiful gifts. At this moment I can’t give any assurance about what my future holds but it’s a big YES music will always be a part of my career. I should say I’m still in the making of plans for my future.

Eastern Mirror: Who is/are your inspiration (s)? Any story behind how you started singing?
BUHIU B.LAM: My father was also a music man too and he is my inspiration in my initial stage. Through him and his love for music, I was introduced to classic bands like Queen, The Beatles, CCR and down to theBuhiu B.Lam. records of Lobo, Don Williams, White Lion, Firehouse etc and this developed my zeal for music. At present we are in the peak of music creativeness and so I pick my inspirations from any good music, musician or artist that I encounter.

Eastern Mirror: Nagaland government, music and the people. What positive output do you think can transform Nagaland with these trio?

BUHIU B.LAM: I think this is one happening talk of corners. No doubt, with the formation of Music Task Force(MTF) we see the growth of many musicians making their marks even in the international level. Yet much more can be done again as we see many upcoming artist. Now the government, music and the people have to go hand in hand. It simply means “Support” to one another.

Eastern Mirror: Favourite quote.
BUHIU B.LAM: I quote from my own poem.
“Fade may hold clou
ds and storms. Wind may toss your hopes and dreams. Make a choice;Face the odds. Never give up. Failure is the consequence of giving up “
