Revived ASDC elects new office bearers

Our Correspondent Diphu, Dec. 15 (EMN): The election of new office bearers for Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) was decided in its first central committee meeting held on Dec.14. The announcement of the elected members were disclosed during a press conference held at its office premises on Dec. 15. A total of 47 new members were elected led by Holiram Terang as the president of ASDC. The Vice Presidents as Chomang Kro and Mayasing Daulaguphu; general secretary as Jotson Bey, secretaries- Dharam Sing Teron, Chandra Kanta Terang, Sonasing Terang, Sanjay Killing, Samuel Ronghang, Hemsing Tisso, Daniel Teron,Amphu Tissopi, Ramsing Tokbi; treasurer as Premson Bey; office secretary as Nelson Teron while the other members will be elected later, mentioned a press note released during the press conference. It was also informed that the central committee in the line with the resolution of the conference decided to name its youth wing as ‘ ASDC Youth Front’ which will be formally constituted through the convention scheduled to be held in Diphu on March 26 and 27th next year, informed the leaders during the press meeting. The party also called upon the ruling BJP party to fulfil its electoral promises of Autonomous state and stop the joyrides to Delhi in league with the congress which failed to take a resolution for Autonomous state in its own party, futher the conference called upon the BJP government to implement all the clauses of MoU and MoS as promised by the party among others. The statement also mentioned that the ASDC welcomes the prospect of peace finally returning to Nagaland after decades of untold miseries suffered by the Naga masses, while apprehending the looming threat of dismemberment of the constitutional territory boundaries of Assam, particularly Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao, which is not acceptable at any cost and called upon the concerned signatories to lay this fear to rest for once and all. The party also condemned the ongoing activities in the name of extension of Kaziranga National Park (KNP) hampering thousands of age old Karbi inhabitants and other indigenous populations of the area. In the ongoing process of NRC updation a relaxations of the eligibility criteria for the indigenous people and maintain transparency in the process of emphasising of inclusion of all indigenous claims, the ASDC party also expressed solidarity with the suffering of the employees of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council and called for immediate release of their pending salaries in full. Furthermore, the release also stated that the party calls upon the ruling BJP in the two Autonomous councils of Karbi Anglong and North Cachar to publish in white papers on the systematic surrender of the sixth schedule autonomy to the state government.
