Dimapur, Dec. 17 (EMN): The Rengma Hoho has expressed support to early solution to the Indo-Naga political problem stating that the Naga people, like any other race, deserve respect; it has emphasised on integration of the people. It had a word for Naga legislators though: If they are serious about a solution to the Naga political problem, resign en masse.

‘The Rengma Hoho calls upon the Indian leaders to focus on the early solution of the Nagas and impress upon the Naga legislator that if solution is a priority, they should think of mass resignation and not to talk of post-election which sound clear hypocrisy.’ The president of the Rengma Hoho Kenyuseng Tep issued a press release on Sunday.

According to the press release, the Rengma Hoho conducted on Dec. 2 a “consultative meet” and decided to support an ‘early solution’ to the Indo-Naga political problem “with a clear understanding that self-determinations and to live under one administrative unit is the desire of Naga people.”

‘The struggle continued till this day to achieve this aspiration. Naga have its own history and identity like any other race of the world deserves recognition and respect. Rengma Hoho is hopeful that the present dialogue between the Indian and Naga leaders is based on this mutual respect and recognition,” the press release stated.

The organisation made it clear that ‘the integration of all Naga area is a genuine call without any prejudices.’ It is a call of natural rights, it stated. ‘Therefore, Rengma Hoho call upon the negotiating party to find a solution based on the principle of mutual respect which recognized the right of every section of the people. It is imperative to find a solution to this long-protected Indo-Naga problem all other issue like election etc. be put behind as secondary.’

The organisation reaffirmed its support to the dialogue between India and ‘the Naga’ for a negotiated settlement. The press release stated: ‘We appeal to the government of India not to shy away from its responsibility of the loss and destruction meted upon the Nagas during this more than half a century conflict of Indo-Naga problem, but to come to good sense of responsibility to understand the Nagas’ right and do what they deserve being a responsible nation and emerging super power.’

The Naga people too deserve dignity and respect, the press release stated. Any more delay in resolving the Naga issue would be ‘diabolic in nature’ which Nagas do not expect in the ‘present prevailing goodwill environment’ from all sections of the people be it Naga or Indian, the organisation explained.

In the words of the organisation: The Rengma Hoho ‘never get confused in supporting a peaceful dialogue on Indo-Naga problems and have continuously supported the peace process indorsing that solution should be acceptable protecting all section of the people big or small on equal basis.’
