Rengma Hoho appeals to shun violence

Taking serious note of the frequent shot-out between the Indian security forces and the Naga national workers thereby creating sense of insecurity in the mind of the public, the Rengma Hoho has appealed to all parties to shun uncomfortable situation in Rengma area.
The appeal was made at the Rengma Hoho executive body meeting on July 25 at its Headquarter Tseminyu. The house opined that violence beget violence and urged upon all parties and groups to refrain from any form of confrontation and adopt a mechanism to resolve, avoid violence and safe lives.While reaffirming the stand of the Rengma for peace and tranquility, the Hoho appealed to all parties and groups not to create any uncomfortable situation in the Rengma area.
The Hoho president, Kenyuseng Tep, said the Rengmas stands for oneness and aware of the Indo-Naga issues and had always been a supporter to peaceful resolutions of the issue. He said the Rengma Hoho would not cooperate to any group or party who tries to confuse the mind of the Rengma people with prejudices.
The Rengma Hoho, considering the Naga people’s desire for peace, appealed the NSCN (K) to reconsider abrogation of ceasefire with the government of India. Further, the Hoho termed the declaration of AFSPA in Nagaland as violation of human rights, adding that AFSPA is a tool to terrorize and a threat to peace living of the people. It, therefore, urged government of India to withdraw the act without delay.
