RD secretary inspects NERLP projects in Peren

Dimapur, Feb. 15 (EMN): Commissioner and secretary of rural development, Bendangkokba, visited the projects undertaken by Northeast Rural Livelihood Project (NERLP) in Peren district.

The commissioner visited Punglwa ‘B’ road side market shed, modern pig breeding unit in Punglwa and the construction of gravity goods ropeway in Punglwa village. The gravity goods ropeway, first of its kind in the state, is expected to help villagers in reducing the cost of transportation of agriculture and horticulture produce from the uphill jhum fields on completion.

He also visited the road side market shed in Ngwalwa village supported by the project. During interaction with the self help group (SHG) leaders, the commissioner shared on the need for plastic waste management and rain water harvesting for cultivation in order to enhance productivity.

The commissioner also visited the ongoing construction of integrated fruit processing unit in Mhainamtsi village. The project would help the fruit cultivators in linking market. The project is expected complete by March 2019.

The commissioner also visit the pig feed mill operated by the Peren pig producer Pvt. ltd. He has encouraged the team to operate at its optimum level for profit generation.

The commissioner also visited hygienic pig slaughter house constructed by the project and assessed the machinery installation in progress. The slaughter house has the capacity to slaughter 10 pigs per day.

The officials, who visited the projects, have appreciated the work in progress and further encouraged the team to carry forward and complete the activities in order to benefit the community.
