Rangsina Sarpo film and folk artists’ award on March 25

Diphu, March 18 (EMN): The 7th Rangsina Sarpo Film Awards and Rangsina Sarpo Folk Artists Award, 2018 will be given away to selected film personalities during the award giving function on Sun. March 25 at the Joysing Doloi Auditorium, this was informed by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Executive Member for Art & Culture, Fisheries and Land Revenue, Rupsing Teron during a press conference held at the office Diphu Cultural Centre, Lorulangso, on Sat. March 17.
Speaking at the press conference, Teron said like every year in giving recognition to film artists and personalities the Cultural Affairs department, KAAC and Karbi Film Society (KFS) is hosting the 7th Rangsina Sarpo Film Awards and Rangsina Sarpo Folk Artists Award, 2018 on March 25 at Joysing Doloi Auditorium.
The award constituted by the Art & Culture department, KAAC was to promote and preserve the Karbi language, art and culture and folk stories through films. It is also to give recognition to film artists and personalities, he said.
The award carries a trophy, certificate and cash award. There are 19 categories of awards. Among them are best film, best actor (male & female), best director, best documentary film, best script, best comedian, best lyrics and best music director.
Teron said the Art & Culture department, KAAC has decided to make films based on Karbi folk stories and legendaries for its preservation. KAAC, CEM Tuliram Ronghang will attend the function as the Chief Guest, Teron informed.
