Dimapur, March 26 (EMN): The winner and runners up of 2nd Master Shield Trophy, Titans CC and Skylark are all set to play a three day 1st Sir Raj Verma Memorial Trophy from today. Raj Verma was the first pioneer to bring the game of cricket to Mokokchung when he was posted as a government official. He taught young boys collected from different schools and imparted training. He used to play cricket for Club Wizeers in the early 80’s maintained a press note.
His family generously offered to sponsor the test match and also the prize money and even assured to make it a running trophy in the coming years. They also donated one set of walkie talkies for the umpire of Mokokchung District T20 Cricket Federation.
The office is very thankful and appreciative for making Sir Raj Verma’s dream a possibility and promised to work hand in hand for the betterment of cricket in Mokokchung District.
