Kohima, Oct. 31 (EMN): An assessment camp for persons with disabilities (PWDs) was held at the auditorium of Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima, on Tuesday.

The camp was organised by Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) under the DEPWDs Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Kanpur, in collaboration with District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC), Civil Hospital, Dimapur, and the Kohima district administration sponsored under CSR initiative by National Insurance Company Limited.

Dr. Imlitemsu Ozukum, MD (PMR) of District Disability Rehabilitation Centre Civil Hospital, Dimapur, said that the camp was organised to check the type of disabilities and provide aids and appliances to the differently abled persons.

He said that once the assessment was done, the deserving patients who have registered during the camp will be provided with aids and appliances in the month of December and January free of cost.

It was informed that along with Dr. Imlitemsu Ozukum, a doctor disability specialist and five disability therapists from ALIMCO, Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India have assisted the camp.

More than 20 people from Kohima came forward to avail the facilities during the camp.

The ministry has selected two districts Kohima and Dimapur to organise the camp, said Ozukum and mentioned that from Wednesday onwards, the camp would be held in Dimapur.

According to a press release issued by Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome, it was informed that on November 1, the camp will be held at DDRC, District Hospital, Dimapur, for those residing in Dimapur town and colonies till Dhansiri Bridge. Similar camp will be conducted on November 2 at Zion Hospital, Purana Bazaar, for those residing in Purana Bazaar till Diphupar; and on November 3 at Chumukedima Town Committee Hall for those residing in Sovima till Chumukedima.

It informed all PwDs attending the assessment camp to bring documents including (i) Disability Certificate (photocopy), (ii) Income Certificate (Below Rs 15,000 per month in original), (iii) Residential/ ID proof- Adhaar/Voter ID/ Ration Card/ Any government ID card etc (photocopy), (iv) Passport size (4×5) photo (full body showing disabilities).
