Dimapur, March 26 (EMN): Members of the Public Forum of Pungro Sub-division (PFPSD) are taking the initiative to repair the Likimro Hydro Electric Project (LHEP) road. They are filling potholes in some of the worst affected areas there, since March 25 ‘in order to relieve the grievances of the public sufferings for so many years,’ according to a source.

According to a press release on Tuesday, the road at the LHEP was stated to have been left unattended for the past 16 years since the Border Road Organization left the site in 2003.

The PFPSD is grateful to the director of the NEC Energy Pvt. Ltd., Sapu Bhattacharyya for contributing INR 3,00, 000 for the ‘ongoing construction.’

The forum appealed to the government and the Power department to take appropriate measures “against” the pitiable road condition at the earliest.

The press release claimed that there had been ‘a visible sign of improvement of developmental aspects in the project and its area’ after being handed over to NEC Energy Pvt. Ltd. by the state government.

The president of the forum S Kiusumew Yimchungru expressed “disappointment over the non-maintenance (sic) of Likimro Hydro Electric Project road by the state’s government nor power department,” the press release stated. He was stated to have demanded that the road be maintained regularly for the benefit of the people.

The road is the lifeline of the people, covering 57 villages across Pungro sub-division bordering Myanmar, the updates stated.
