Punglwa hydro-project hopes to ease power woes

Peren, Dec. 21 (DIPR): 2 x 75 Kw Noirol Stage-II Mhp under the Department of New & Renewable Energy was formally commissioned by the Chief Minister, T.R. Zeliang on 21st December 2017.
Speaking at the inaugural programme the Chief Minister said that with the commissioning of the project there will be improvement in power in the area. He encouraged the villagers to cooperate and use it for the welfare of the society and he also expressed his gratitude to Punglwa village for donating their lands for developmental works.
The project is executed by Genmachines Pvt. Ltd. In a span of two years at a total cost of Rs. 287.25 Lacs (sic). The success of the project is through coordinated efforts of the Officers and Staffs of the department and through immense support from the Punglwa Village Council. The project is founded (sic) by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the North east Council (NEC).
The energy generated from the project will be supplied to Punglwa and surrounding villages. Excess energy generated during Monsoon season will be injected into the grid as the system is designed for grid interactive. The Chief Minister was accompanied by the Home Minister AzoNienu, Horticulture Minister,Kejong Chang, Cooperation Minister Imtilemba and Geology and Mining Minister, P. Longon.
