Kohima, Jan. 18 (EMN): Nagaland’s minister for Public Works department (national highways) Y Vikheho Swu has inaugurated a newly constructed road in Pughoboto on Thur. The road is stated to be one leading to an ongoing construction site of the Pughoboto ‘mini secretariat’ through Mishilimi village in Zunheboto district.
Swu opened the road and dedicated it ‘to the prosperity of the people of Pughoboto sub-division.’ Addressing a formal function at Mishilimi ground, the minister said that the Nagaland government was ‘committed to provide better road connectivity for better development.’ He informed that the state government is ‘initiating’ several new road projects throughout the state through funding from the central government.
The minister highlighted various developmental activities that were undertaken during the past five years in the sub-division. These ‘developmental activities’ including piggery facilities, ‘green Pughoboto plantation drive,’ and ‘skill development projects’ through which ‘animals, trees, agricultural tools, and machineries etc.,’ were ‘extended’ for the economic uplift of the sub-division.
The politician also acknowledged the pioneers of the sub-division for their vision to uplift the sub-division and its people, Swu expressed confidence that Pughoboto would move toward progress and development.
A superintending engineer of the PWD (roads and bridges) of Zunheboto district Senti Jamir also gave the technical report at the event. The officer said that the road construction was undertaken as part of “non-development” amounting to INR 90 lakh during the current financial year 2017-18.
The total length of the project is 1.9 km while ‘items of the work’ include ‘scrubbing of grass brush wood, sapling of girth, earth works in excavation, construction of unlined side drains, providing GSB Gr-I, WBM Gr-II and III and bituminous work, as per schedule of rate NPWD (road) 2016,’ updates on Thur. informed.
Also, the government servant said that the developmental activities in Pughoboto area were ‘due to initiatives’ taken by Minister Y Vikheho Swu and described him as a ‘leader committed to the people, a man of action, and a great dynamic leader not only for Pughoboto area people but for the Nagas in general as well.’
The officer expressed hope that the people of the area would ‘look and march forward for more developmental activities for economic uplift of the people of Pughoboto area together under his leadership in the days to come.’
