Pughoboto citizens celebrates Tuluni festival

Dimapur, July 10 (EMN): Denizens of Pughoboto town celebrated Tuluni festival on July 8 at the local ground of Pughoboto. They were joined by the area’s additional deputy commissioner, Avelu Ruho, sub divisional officer (civil) Chonbenthung Ezung, and other officers, according to a press release to the media on Monday.

Exhorting the gathering, Avelu Ruho pointed out the need to protect and preserve culture and tradition for the younger generation, the press release stated. Maintaining that the forefathers of the Naga people were hardworking and generous, she called upon the youngsters to inculcate said values. As part of the event, the 1st Tuluni Inter-Ward Sports Meet which included volley ball besides traditional games were held for both man and women. Hebuloto colony and Medical colony emerged the overall champion and runners up, in that order.
The significance of the festival was explained to the gathering by Benito Wotsa and a poem about the festival was recited by Toli H, the press release informed.
The celebrations included cultural performances by various troupes, the organisers informed. The chairman of the PATC, Viyikhu A Swu, also exhorted the gathering during the programme, the press release added.
