Kohima College Kohima is one of the oldest and most reputed college amongst Government Colleges in Nagaland. This college has produced many eminent personalities in our society. However it is sad to see the recent reports in the newspapers that the Principal of the college have asked the Vice-Principal to open the college on holiday (non working day for the college) in order to issue certificate to Mr. Neiphiu Rio Hon’ble MP. The Superintendent and the staff of Kohima College, Kohima have to work even during holiday (non working days) just to prepare the certificate for Mr. Neiphiu Rio. What was the urgency unless a student(s) was not late for admission to pursue of higher studies or Mr. Neiphiu Rio was in a hurry to go to another college or university in 2012. The State Assembly election was held in 2013, moreover, for filing of the nomination paper no educational/Marksheet is required according to Representation Act as of now. Whrereas the former Principal and Vice-Principal of Kohima College have created bad precedence by issuing fake certificate to an ex-student which is totally against the norms of University. The present Principal had issued corrigendum by correcting false certificate which was issued by his predecessor is another blunder committed just to safe the skin of Mr. Neiphiu Rio. From the humanitarian point of view they have done a good job to protect the wrong doer, but legally speaking, it could attract severe punishment which should not be overlooked by the police or the court, so that in future no one will commit such a big mistake. The authority (Principal) issuing the certificate in their own handwritten in a wrong format has proved beyond doubt their ill intentions. Here the biggest question is no authority would have ordered a college to open during holidays unless they have hidden agenda. Justice must be delivered from the court of law and punish the wrong doers in question so that the students will feel secured and avoid such corrupt practices. It is shocking that the Former PS of Mr. Neiphiu Rio was present in the college to collect the fake certificate on non working days. If calculate properly, it is a premeditated plan which cannot be a simple mistake. The act of the Principal and Vice-Principal has not only tarnished the image of the college, but have also acted illegally and therefore the court should take cognizance of their action in the next hearing which is slated on 8th august 2016.
