Power rationing in 5 upper districts

Dimapur, Jan. 20 (EMN): Five districts in Nagaland Mokokchung, Tuensang, Mon, Zunheboto and Longleng will be experiencing frequent power-rationing in the coming, according to a statement from the department of Power.
“This is to inform that the 5 districts under Mokokchung transmission division namely: Mokokchung, Tuensang, Mon, Zunheboto and Longleng may experience frequent unscheduled load shedding as Kohima load centre is being fed from PGCIL, Mokokchung due to the fire that broke out at Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), Government of India at Nagarjan, Dimapur on 15th January causing damage to cables in one of the power panels.
“As Mokokchung and Kohima load centres are restricted to draw only 50MW from PGCIL, Mokokchung during the shutdown period of Doyang Hydro Electric Project which is from 7:30pm to 4:00pm everyday; power availability has been constraint,” reasoned a press release from the establishment of Mokokchung transmission division on Sat.
“It may be mentioned that Kohima load centre was being fed from PGCIL, Dimapur before the incident. As such, the five districts under Mokokchung transmission division may experience more load shedding hours than usual. This arrangement will be in place till the damaged panels are restored. Therefore, all affected consumers are requested to kindly bear with the inconvenience”, the statement read.
