Dimapur, April 7: The installation work for 100 Mega Volt Amp transformer at Nagarjan sub-station in Dimapur was completed during the month of November, 2018. It was installed to counter the perennial erratic power scenario in Dimapur.

It is to be mentioned that the transformer reached Dimapur on May 1, 2018 from Bhopal. An official from the state’s Power department told Eastern Mirror that power disruptions will continue.

According to him, the “entire equipment will get burned” if consumers fail to turn off the power supply when not needed; and added that the restoration process will consume huge amount of time.”

“Time to time there will be interruption due to natural calamities and similar aspects,” he added.

“There are thousands and thousands of distribution transformers in Nagaland, so if any of these are overloaded then, of course, that particular colony, area, or village will not get power even if it is available,” he said.

Adding that Dimapur also supplies power to Peren district, the official said, “As far as the power transmission is concerned, Dimapur can handle the load.”
