Postal ballot centre set up for poll personnel in Dimapur

Dimapur, Feb. 21 (EMN): The district election officer (DEO) of Dimapur Sushil Kumar Patel has informed that a centre for the purpose of casting postal ballot would be opened at Dimapur Government College, near the DC Court junction in Dimapur on Feb. 23 from 10 am for personnel requisitioned for polling duty.
The DEO clarified that it would be the last of such centres for personnel to cast their ballot. In this regard, political parties and contesting candidates are requested to sent their agents to ensure a free, fair and transparent casting of postal ballots.
The DEO issued a separate notification for polling personnel eligible for the postal ballot. It informed polling personnel who have applied for Form 12 to be issued with postal ballot, to be physically present on Feb. 24 at the postal ballot centre, conference hall of the Taxes Commissioner ‘s office of Dimapur between 10 am to 3 pm to receive and cast the postal ballot. They are to present valid identity proof. The personnel for whom the notification is meant: Police personnel and polling duty personnel registered as voters in other districts and all government employees in Dimapur district requisitioned for election duty as sector officer, flying squad team members, static surveillance team members, video surveillance team members, expenditure monitoring team members, drivers etc., and all government employees detailed for election duty.
The DEO clarified that postal ballot for the aforementioned employees would be issued only at the designated location as has been mentioned and not through any other means. The establishment has reminded that it shall be the last of such ‘facilitation’ centres for the personnel to cast the postal ballot.
