Polytechnic Seithekema undertakes plantation drive

Forest Range Officer, Imkongsunep, is seen planting a tree while the principal looks on during the plantation drive at Government Polytechnic, Seithekema C, Dimapur, on May 15.


Dimapur, May 15 (EMN):
Government Polytechnic Seithekema C, Dimapur, undertook a tree plantation drive on May 15 within its campus on the theme ‘Green campus.’ The plantation drive was organised in commemoration of the ‘World Environment Day’ which falls on June 5 every year.

The programme was attended by Imkongsunep, Range Officer, Department of Forest, Chumoukedima, Dimapur, and other officers.

The Range Officer, in his keynote address, highlighted the importance of planting trees. He also elaborated on the percentage of forest coverage in different districts of Nagaland.

The programme was chaired by Sulanthung N Ngullie, while Temsunukshi pronounced the invocation. A short speech was delivered by Er. Zhapulhoulie Rupreo, Principal of Government Polytechnic Seithekema C, Dimapur, while Imnasangba Jamir, senior lecturer, prayed for the plantation.

The principal stated that about 400 tree saplings of different types were planted within the campus with active participation of officials from Forest Department and the Polytechnic family.

The tree saplings were provided by the Range Officer, Chumoukedima, Dimapur.
