Imphal, March 27 (EMN): The 9 day long 27th Governor’s Cup Invitation Polo Tournament, 2017 and 16th Governor’s Cup Women Polo Tournament, 2017 organised by Manipur horse Riding and polo Association concluded at Mapal Kangjeibung, the oldest polo ground in the world here on Monday.
In today’s final matches of the 27th Governor’s Cup Invitation Polo Tournament, 2017 Ibudhou Thangjing Polo Club defeated Manipur Police Sports Club B 5-4 while in the 16th Governor’s Cup Women’s Polo Tournament, 2017 Imphal Riding Club (IRC) won the match by defeating K and MM Riding School 4-0.
The winning 4 goals of the IRC was scored by Kh. Deventy Devi and Kh. Habe scoring 2 goals in the first chukker while the other 2 goals were added to their account by A. Romabati Devi in the second chukker with the last goal from Kh Habe in the third chukker.
Ibudhou Thangjing Polo Club opened their account with two goals in the first chukker by the team captain M. Manihar Singh and P. Ojit Singh. The 2nd and 3rd goal of the team was scored by L. Kokeshwar Singh and P. Ojit Singh. The final and deciding goal of the tournament was scored by M. Manihar Singh in the last fourth chukker of the match against Manipur Police Sports Club B. Mention may be made that 10 teams took part in the tournament.
Minister (CAF& PD/Rev/Weight & Measures) Karam Shyam and Minister (IFCD/YAS) Letpao Haokip besides functionaries of the organising team attended the closing function.
