Police-public marathon held in Kohima

KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 28

The State’s Police department organized the first ever Police-Public Marathon on the theme “Engaging citizens – Bridging the gap,” in collaboration with the State Resource Centre for Women (SRCW) “Beti bachao, Beti padhao” in the state capital today.
The marathon was organized as part of the department’s initiative of community policing and in an effort to connect with the people. Around 550 persons took part in the marathon which began at High School junction and culminated at PHQ. In category A (10.5km) open for 18 years and above, Pache Khiam of 164 Territory Army emerged as the champion, while N Puchong Khiam and Thungti Chang bagged the second and third positions. The top three winners received Rs 20,000, Rs 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.
In category B (between 14-18yrs), Iteipeibo Nkie emerged as the champion, while the second and third prizes were bagged by Tmanyasipong and Repenkiu Tikhir. They received a cash award of Rs 12,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 8,000 respectively along with citations.
Earlier, the marathon was flagged by DGP LL Doungel as the chief guest at High School junction and it culminated at PHQ Nagaland with the Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar as the chief guest for the closing ceremony. He also gave away the prizes to the winners.
