Dimapur, Nov. 1 (EMN): Dimapur police have arrested eight persons from different parts of Dimapur in the past one week for indulging in various crimes. The arrested persons have been booked and are under investigation.
On October 24, one person identified as Sajan Namasotoro (18), son of Bidam Namasotoro of Silchar, Assam, was arrested for pick pocketing a passenger at Dimapur Railway Station. A cash amount of Rs 8000 was recovered from his possession. According a case has been registered at Dimapur GRPS and further investigation is on.
In a separate incident on October 24, police arrested two persons in connection with vehicle theft case registered at Sub-Urban PS (SBN). They have been identified as Atsu Yimchunger (30), son of Rakhi Yimchunger of Tsundang village in Kiphire district and presently resident of Balijan Khan Bosti, Karbi-Anglong, Assam, and Md. Enamul Hussain (25), son of Md. Adubakkar Siddique of Bardowa Nagaon and presently resident of Balijan Khan Bosti, Assam.
On October 26, Special Operation Team (SOT) intercepted one vehicle bearing registration No. WB-57C-7973 (Tata) from 5th Mile near Faith Petrol Pump and recovered 31 packets of suspected contraband Ganja.
In this connection two persons identified as Nyam Sheik (31), son of Fajla Haque of Katwa village, Baganpara, Burdwan in West Bengal, and Rabial Sheik (27), son of Jahman Sheik of Kandara village, Murshidabad, West Bangal, were apprehended. Accordingly a case has been registered at Diphupar Police Station for further investigation.
On October 27, Anti Extortion Team (AET) Zone–II arrested one person identified as Alok Dutta, son of Sumel Dutta of Sangtamtilla for collecting yearly tax of Rs 500 from Loknath Pan Shop at New Market, Dimapur, in the name of NSCN (R). Accordingly a case has been registered at Dimapur West PS and investigation is on.
On the same day, Special Operation Team (SOT) apprehended one person identified as Mughabeto Aye (27), son of Vikato Kiba of Nikikhe village in Niuland sub-division and presently resident of Duncan Bosti, Dimapur, for extorting money from business community and auto drivers at Murgipatti area, Dimapur.
The team recovered six numbers of demand slip and cash amount of Rs 1800 from his possession. Accordingly, a case has been registered at Dimapur East PS for further investigation.
Again on October 29, Anti Extortion Team (AET) Zone-II apprehended one person identified as Atoka Chishi (28), son of Nihokhu of Kughato village and presently resident of Sachu Colony, Dimapur, for issuing information slip to business establishment in the name of NSCN (R).
The team recovered one .32 pistol with live rounds, information slips and cash amount of Rs 3210 from his possession. Accordingly, a case has been registered at East PS for investigation. This was stated in a press release issued by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police/PRO, Dimapur.
