Imphal, Feb. 4 (EMN): The Churachandpur district police apprehended one cadre of a new armed group United Kuki National Army( UKNA) identified as Nguljalen Haokip (37) son of Tonglam of S Moldung along with a demand letter at Boljol villaģe in the district,police said on Sunday.
The arrested cadre had reportedly given demand letter of Rs 50 lac to Autonomous Development Council Churachandpur district two days ago, the source said. A case has been registered at the Churachandpur police station for further investigation. The arrested person also disclosed he printed the demand letter and served it through postal service, it added.
The SP Rakesh Balwal of Churachandpur district police appealed to the public that all such cases of extortion demands be reported to police without any hesitation.
