PMEGP beneficiaries reopen ICICI bank

(EM Images)[/caption] Mokokchung, Jan. 3 (EMN): ICICI Banks, Mokokchung Branch, has finally shown green signal to release the Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) loans to the beneficiaries. ICICI Mokokchung branch along with two private banks namely Axis and HDFC were forced shut down on December 20 by agitating beneficiaries of 2014-17 for non-release of loans. In a joint meeting of the ICICI Bank and PMEGP beneficiaries held in a the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, on January 3, ICICI bank manager responded positively with a written assurance to update the remaining 11 files within January 20. In a letter, ICICI bank informed that it had received 18 PMEGP files for the year 2016-17 and 2007-18, out of which five cases have been sanctioned for the year 2016-17 and two cases were rejected. ‘The remaining eleven files are all in the process, out of which 6 files update will be responded within this week and remaining 5 files will be updated within January 20,’ the letter added. ICICI Bank, Mokokchung Branch, is now operational after missing nine business days excluding Christmas and New Year holidays. Meanwhile, the two banks namely Axis and HDFC responded poorly during the joint meeting with the Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner, along with the officials of the Ao Senden, Watsu Mungdang, AKM, MTLT, beneficiaries and the three banks managers. Beneficiaries informed that the two banks Axis and HDFC would remain locked down indefinitely until a positive assurance is given by the respective banks.
