Dimapur, October 1

October for Pilgrim School in Dimapur started off colorfully as they organized its first mega art exhibition coinciding with their 28 years of existence.
With the central idea to enable children to explore God’s given talent and provide platform to polish those skills discovered, the school organized a Mega Art Exhibition on Thursday 1st October under the theme “Every Child id an artist” with Theja Meru, renowned entrepreneur, president of Rattle and Hum Music Society, and winner of Governor’s Award for Excellence in Music as the special guest.Identifying each child and an individual to be an artist in every capacity, Theja Meru remarked that with art there is life which is an expression of something and acknowledged Pilgrim school to be ‘full of life’ because of art.
While lauding the school for their enthusiastic dedication towards art, Meru called on the students to embrace the three letters ‘ART’ in their lives, with A connoting for attitude which will determine how far an individual will go with the right attitude. With R he referred to respect and responsibility which will be with them for life and referring to the letter T, Meru touched upon time management stating that whatever we have in life is in exchange of time and each individual should be conscious of the time given which cannot be brought back.
Pilgrim School’s headmistress Kaini Khekho Kikon on the occasion said the program was organized with a view to encourage and blossom creativity and cognitive skills in the children. “Learning to create and appreciate visual aesthetics has become more important than ever to the development of the next generation children. Creative art is one of the building blocks of child development as it encompasses all the development domains,” Kikon remarked.
She further noted that the program was aimed at developing a sense of individuality, self respect and appreciation of others work while also serving as a launch pad to enhance and further their observational, systematic and interpretational skills.
The program which was held at Pilgrim School premises was well attended with active participation by parents, guardians and well wishers. The day started with a ‘spot painting’ session by the students and ended with art exhibition which was worked on by the students of Pilgrim School.
