Phom council says issue of DC suspension ‘settled’

Dimapur, March 5 (EMN): The demand of community organisations seeking the suspension of the Longleng district deputy commissioner, over issues related to the recent agitations, has been resolved, the Phom Public Council has stated.

The council issued a press release on Sunday referring to the demand of the Joint Action Committee.

“In response to JCC’s press statement which appeared in the local dailies on March 5 reiterating its demand for suspension of Longleng DC, the Phom Peoples’ Council (PPC) would like to remind JCC that the matter in this connection has already been clarified, compromised and settled between PPC and the public on February 6, 2017 at Longleng and the same has been published in all local dailies on February 7, 2017 which was also intimated to the convener JCC through telephone by the President of PPC, and through ENPO’s representative that any matter relating Longleng issue be consulted with PPC.”

Hence, the note added, the committee’s demand for suspension of said deputy commissioner “be put at rest since the matter has already been settled as stated above.”
