Kohima, Dec. 30 (EMN): The Phesama Students’ Union (PSU) held its 56th annual general session at St Paul’s Auditorium in Phesama village on December 28, in Kohima. A ‘principal private secretary,’ Keneidino was the speaker of the event, updates on Sunday stated.

Speaking on the topic, “Sacrifice today for better tomorrow,” Keneidino told the gathering about how ‘giving oneself the utmost care and love is indispensible for according service to the society.’

Mentioning that a strong foundation was salient to becoming a successful person in future, Keneidino urged the students to also strive and give importance to their academics ‘right from nursery to 10th standard,’ the updates stated.

Speaking about her concerns about how technology had become a force of distraction and disturbance to the society, Keneidino also advised the gathering to reflect on giving quality time to the self, both for the intellect and the body, the updates stated.

Ketounizo Kar, the president of the PSU delivered the presidential address, the updates informed further. He was quoted as having said that the performance of students from the village had improved considerably with “laudable marks” over the years. ‘At the same time, he reminded them about their responsibilities as students, the need to secure and bring progress to the society and uphold the values of the village,’ the updates stated.

Phesama village is in close proximity to Kisama village, the venue of Nagaland’s Hornbill Festival. The students debated and deliberated on the ‘boon and bane’ of the festival. The “against bench” strongly noted that the festival was “morally degrading” while the forward bench defended that the village was ‘gaining economic benefit, getting exposure and employment opportunities,’ the updates stated.
