Dimapur, Nov. 6 (EMN): The Peren District Task Force (DTF) meeting on Intensified Mission Indradanush was held on Nov. 3, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, District Task Force Committee, Zarenthung at DC’s office chamber, New Peren.
Officials from Chief Medical Office, Social Welfare, administration and representative from ZBA attended the meeting.
While welcoming the gathering, DC expressed his appreciation to the members for attending the meeting. He requested CPDO Peren to instruct the Anganwadi workers and supervisors to carry out the head count survey of Peren town which is the need of the hour for tracking children for immunization.
He also informed that the official letter will be send to all the village councils to get the children immunized who have been left out and to avail the government initiative for free immunization till Jan 2018 to decrease child mortality and protect the child from various diseases.
Dr. Khrielasanuo, DPO, RCH/UIP highlighted the last month performance on IMI carried out in the district and informed that there was a lot of resistance from the people. She also mentioned that out of the target population 455 children, 288 children were immunized and 167 still to be immunized.
Informing that there was only 60% coverage in first round of IMI,
Dr. Khrielasanuo stressed on the need to mobilize the people for immunization. Saying that churches play a vital role, she requested them in disseminating the right information on immunization to the public in general.
Accountant ZBA Thuanbui Newmw said intensive awareness should be created and associations in the district must work together for the success of the programme.
The meeting concluded with the chairman’s remark on IMI in local Zeliang dialect to be aired on AIR so as to create awareness and to clear the misconceptions relating to immunization.
