Kohima, March 16 (EMN): Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) has launched the online payment for water bill for the commercial establishments in Kohima on March 16. The online payment system was inaugurated by the chief secretary Pankaj Kumar.
Addressing the launching programme, chief secretary has congratulated the PHED department on their success in traducing the online payment of water bills in Kohima for the commercial establishments. He hoped that the facilities would be made available to domestic consumers soon.He said the launching of online payment would benefit the commercial establishments, domestic consumer for both private and government. Kumar further encouraged the department to extend their services to other districts to avail the facilities of online payment of water bills.
“The state has been trying to deliver services to the citizens giving more option to facilitate better facilities for payment of bills. With this initiative, the department has started with the power sector and now in eight towns of the state, the online billing is operational, and that the consumers can pay their bills easily,” he added.
Stating that there was no scheme with the PHED department for online payment projects, he said PHED has taken up the initiatives with zero budget, which according to him was laudable. He also appreciated the Information Technology department for guiding them.
Commissioner and secretary, Moangwati Aier, said that the online payment was only for commercial establishments. He added that the department would launch programme for domestic consumers in near future.
Stating that PHED has generated revenue of INR 2.5 crores during 2017-2018, he stated that the department has targeted to achieve revenue of 2.6 crores very soon.
Stating that the online payment would help address rush in payment of fees, he informed that the department has also planned to introduce the same facilities in other 11 districts soon.
