Petekuolie Nipu is champion of SZYO wrestling meet

Sechü Zubza, Dec. 15 (EMN): Petekuolie Nipu defeated Thejavilie Sirie to emerge as the champion at the 51st wrestling meet of the Sechü Zubza Youth Organisation (SZYO) held on Dec. 15.
Nipu, a former champion of the Western Angami Sports Association, clinched the title by beating his opponent in straight bouts in the final. It may be mentioned that the one-day tournament. The third position was won by Keviserielie Nagi, while Mhasisietuo Kitshü bagged the fourth position.
On his way to lift the title, the champ Nipu overcame Keviserielie in the semifinals, while he defeated Kedizelhou Zhünyü in the quarters. The runner-up Thejavilie beat Mhasisietuo in the semis, while he defeated Mhasilhoukho Naprantsu in the quarters.
Meanwhile, the emerging wrestler of the tournament was awarded to Mhasisietuo Kisthü.
Earlier, the inaugural function was graced by Kevisekho Kruse, Retd. chief engineer, PHED, Government of Nagaland as the chief guest.
In his address, Kruse congratulated the SZYO for attaining 51 years, while he thanked the pioneers for bringing the organisation thus far. To the wrestlers, he encouraged them to be discipline and be self confident and further to give their best to reach the top. While recalling that wrestlers from the state have won medals at international event, he urged the wrestlers to strive hard to achieve at the highest level of competition, so as to bring laurels to themselves and the Nagas as a whole.
Kruse also challenged the youth organisation to take initiative on sanitation activities.
Stating that Sechüma, a village under Western Angami area was the first village in Kohima district to be presented the Nirmal Gram Puraskar (NGP) award in 2008, he also challenged the youths village to emulate the success story of Sechüma village.
38 wrestlers took part in the day’s championship which was hosted by Tsurü colony of Sechü Zubza village.
The programme, chaired by Kevikhelie Rino, commenced with invocation pronounced by Kho-u Nipu. The SZYO presidential address was delivered by Viketouzo Meyase, while SZYO games & sports secretary Visakholie Medoze administered oath to the wrestlers.
